Either Port Canaveral or Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) are strong possibilities, given that they are the two year-round home ports for Disney Cruise Ships and Disney historically has put its newest ships in Florida — at least to start. The last ship currently scheduled to be fully built (from start to finish) specifically for Disney’s fleet is due to arrive in 2025. Most likely the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, which is better-equipped to handle mega ships such as this one. The original plans for the ship under its prior ownership also included a casino — Disney doesn’t have casinos on any of its existing ships, so it’s likely that this space will be repurposed for something else on the Disney Adventure. Theoretically, it’s possible Disney could keep the casino given the “new market” targeting, but it’s generally considered unlikely.

On September 5, 2023, Disney Cruise Line revealed the ship will be named ‘Disney Adventure‘ during the 2023 Destination D23 event at Walt Disney World. Certain features will be reimagined under the world-renowned expertise of Walt Disney Imagineers and is expected to set sail in 2025. And that’s not the only new thing guests can look forward to on board the Treasure. New dining experiences include Plaza de Coco, a “Coco”-themed theatrical dining experience including music-filled meals with Mexican eats and a Dia de los Muertos celebration, and Jumbeaux’s Sweets, a “Zootopia”-inspired ice cream and sweet shop. Disney's two oldest ships are about 40% smaller than its newest ships and have fewer such features.

Disney Cruise Line just unveiled the first details about the Disney Treasure, a new ship that will start sailing seven-night Caribbean cruises in December 2024, and we got a first look at all the magic in store.
This possibility would be supported by the fact that Global Dream was originally expected to hold about 8,000-9,000 passengers but Disney has indicated it would likely only accommodate somewhere around 6,000 after conversion. Disney recently dipped its toes into serving previously-uncharted waters (uncharted by Disney, at least), with its new Australia and New Zealand itineraries. It’s widely believed that the additions of the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and the Disney Destiny will give Disney the freedom to reassign some some of its older ships — as well as the former Global Dream ship — to cruise farther-flung itineraries going forward.
A new feature for Disney Cruise Line, the Hero Zone is a multipurpose space that serves as Disney Wish's basketball court and a venue for a new inflatable play area that's set up at select times on each sailing. It also hosts Jack Jack's Incredible Diaper Dash, where parents enter the littlest cruisers into an adorable race. Though the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the expected roll-out of the additions to the fleet, this ship is now expected to hold its maiden voyage sometime in 2025.
It will be a sister ship to the current newest ship, the Disney Wish (which began sailing in 2022) — as well as to the Disney Destiny, which joins the fleet in 2025. This means that these three ships should be generally the same in terms of construction, though some themed elements will vary between the three. That makes the two oldest Disney ships a good choice for someone who wants to try a Disney cruise but isn't eager to travel with huge crowds. The oldest ships in the Disney fleet thus appeal to a subset of Disney fans who prefer more intimacy in a cruise vessel and don't mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it.

Originally, the 342 meter vessel was designed to offer space for up to 9,500 passengers. Construction will be completed at the former MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, under the management of Meyer Werft, the Papenburg-based company that built the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, and Disney Treasure. The ship’s previous owner filed for bankruptcy before completing the vessel, enabling Disney Cruise Line to secure it at a favorable price and within the capital expenditure guidance The Walt Disney Company provided on its recent earnings call. The project also secures employment for hundreds of former MV Werften employees and will provide opportunities for numerous maritime industry suppliers in the region. Other spaces seen on the sibling ship — including the Hero Zone recreation area, movie theaters, poolside dining venues, Toy Story-themed water play area, Senses Spa, and adults-only Quiet Cove — will also be on the Treasure.
For tweens and teens, there are Edge and Vibe, where the and crowds can chill with video games, coffee and mocktail bars and a less organized "come and go as you please" setup. Vibe is equipped with a side room that can be separated for use by 18- to 20-year olds who are too old for the kids club but too young to hang out at adult bars. And, because you’ll have a one dedicated agent from start to finish, you’ll have a seamless and hassle-free experience. There’s no waiting on hold and no giant call centers or wholesalers — just you and your personal cruise assistant planning the vacation that’s perfect for you. Given that it is a sister ship to the Disney Wish, we expect a similar layout in terms of the number of kids’ clubs, restaurants, pools, etc.
Embracing the adventures of the future, the Tomorrow Tower Suite will capture the same forward-thinking mindset that inspired the Walt Disney World Resort theme park, EPCOT, with an energetic design. Throughout the suite, dynamic art pieces, molten metal accents and futuristic, colorful glass accents will evoke the distinct atmosphere of EPCOT’s World Discovery neighborhood. Set high in the ship’s forward funnel, this one-of-a-kind suite will overlook the top deck of the Disney Treasure and glimpse the open horizon through an expansive two-story window. With nearly 2,000 square feet of living space, the Tomorrow Tower Suite will comfortably sleep eight guests and feature areas for eating, sleeping and playing, as well as other perks like a full kitchen and private ensuite elevator.

Those who take a cruise on the ship will be able to enjoy spaces, experiences and entertainment themed around stories like The Lion King, Hercules and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The Disney Treasure, the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, will sail its inaugural voyage on Dec. 21, 2024. During its first season, guests can book seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.
The newer Disney cruise ships also are home to kiddie waterslides, decktop kiddie play areas and several pools apiece. The ships' insides are loaded with huge children's play areas, family entertainment and even adults-only venues. The first of the vessels, Disney Wish, debuted with a whole new array of Disney "wow" on board, from the "Star Wars"-themed Hyperspace Lounge that offers a "window" view of passing starships to Marvel- and "Frozen"-themed restaurants. As noted above, it's a sister ship to Disney Wish, and it'll have many of the same features as that vessel. Disney originally announced in 2016 that it would be building two new ships. But at the following year’s D23 Expo, the company announced it would actually be building three new ships. As you can see in this video originally taken in February 2022 (months before the deal was announced), a significant amount of construction on the ship has already been done. Note that the video pre-dates the Disney purchase but has since been retitled to reflect Disney’s ownership.
